It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...so why don't I feel it?

The tree and decorations are up. I've purchased most of the gifts I'm going to purchase already and they've been wrapped and deposited under the tree. I've been gorging on Christmas movies. My son and I sing the Twelve Days of Christmas every night before bed. It's even been really cold here in NoVA. But I'm not yet in the Christmas spirit.

It could be that I've had a turbulent fall and I need a moment to catch my breath before I feel festive. It could be that December just started and in a couple weeks I'll be wearing Santa hat (complete with rhinestone tiara) everywhere. Or it could be that I'm just feeling Scrooge-y this year. I sincerely doubt the latter since I LOVE Christmas. Whatever the reason, I've got a case of the holiday blahs and I'm not sure how to kick them.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated :) What works for you to get you in that holiday frame of mind?

Cheers,
Cindy

Some of my fave ways to get in the spirit of the holidays...tacky Christmas sweater parties, spiked egg nog, riding around looking at Christmas lights sipping on hot apple cider, and my personal fave...CAROLING!:-)

I wish I could help, but I'm feeling the same things. I am obsessed with Christmas. I look forward to it all year! Sometimes I whip out my Christmas music in July just because I need a little Christmas in my life and can't wait for December. I don't know if it's the constant rain at the coast or being away from family, but I'm having trouble this year. I like Jess's suggestions above. I'll have to try some of them!

I've been listening to Holiday music and just taking it slow. Trying to be in the moment and be grateful for every moment.

I agree, gratitude that it's now the bestest season of the year helps me. I adore the magic of Christmas, because it allows me to revel in the joy of giving. Giving of my time, giving of my abundance...I heart Christmas!

I heart Christmas too! Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I'm starting to feel it a little more. My son and I made Christmas cookies this weekend and that definitely helped. Cookies make everything better :)

I've been feeling the same way for the last few years and I think it's because the Christmas hype starts as soon as Hallowe'en is over (or so it seems). I'm going to try some of the suggestions here and see if they help - especially the tacky Christmas sweater party :)
