When Detective Faith Prentice is assigned as a liaison to the police force in Montréal, intent on helping the detectives there capture a killer who's MO matches one she's hunted at home in Los Angeles, she is ill-prepared for what awaits her in the beautiful jewel city of Canada's French province. Mysteriously drawn to her temporary partner, Adrian Blackthorne, she rebels against his allure, only to be drawn into an even deeper darkness when Adrian's past snares her-and she becomes a pawn in the deadly battle between the vampire Blackthorne and the powerful master he has long denied.
Faith Prentice is a strong, mature heroine who is easy to relate to and owns her sexuality. I also love that she's a cop because it takes her out of the typical 'vamp victim' kind of role. Devon Cartier is sensual, complicated and has a delicious darkness about him. Adrian Blackthorne is the perfect foil to Cartier. Where Cartier is at times unknowable, Adrian is dramatic and open. He wears his emotions on his sleeve which gives the readers insight into the history between Cartier and Blackthorne. He also shows a great deal of compassion when dealing with Faith.
Ms. Bridger packs an amazing amount of emotion and passion into this fifty page story. The action moves along at a good clip and keeps the reader enthralled. The sex scenes are lush, well-crafted and--of course--very, very steamy! My only criticism--I wish it were longer :) I wanted the story to go on and on. I'd recommend this book to everyone who has a love of vampire lore. Enter a world of romance and fantasy with Ms. Bridgers stunning tale. Brava, Denyse!
